Congratulations! Ric was recently crowned the Smooth Jazz Idol by Dave Koz on the Dave Koz Cruise for his unique cutting-edge style of playing two saxophones simultaneously. Ric recently got a chance to perform with artists like Wayman Tisdale, Patti Austin, Rick Braun, Jonathan Butler, Brian Simpson, and others in Mexico on the cruise.

News - September9/12/2007Dave Koz acknowledged Ric by saying, " Ric is a great sax player and has been featured on my cruise with the band DW3". In addition, Ric is currently in the studio finishing up tracks for his latest CD entitled "Doubletake". Three of the songs can be heard here on his website. The mellow and laid back sound of "Get Blue" was co-written by Prince and guitarist/producer Levi Seacer (http://www.myspace.com/leviseacerjr) and features Derrick Hughes on background vocals. The danceable groove "Doubletake" features Ric playing two saxophones simultaneously and was co-written by Ric and keyboardist Lorenzo Hawkins. Ric‘s smooth jazz version of John Legend‘s "Ordinary People" is already becoming a local favorite. News - August8/15/2007Ric‘s new band recieved rave reviews after opening for Smooth Jazz Artist of the Year Nils at the KKSF Earth Day Festival in San Jose, California. The new band features guitarist/producer Levi Seacer who recently reunited with Ric after moving back to California from Minneapolis where he toured, recorded and produced for Prince and Sounds of Blackness for the last ten years. Levi currently produced an upcoming artist named Christopher Lawrence (http://www.myspace.com/christopherlawrenceband) who recently signed a deal with the managers of the popular rock group Nickelback. Ric‘s new band has been spotted around town locally at venues such as Shanghai 1930 in San Francisco, Jesso‘s in Oakland, 767 Bryant Loft Parties in San Francisco, and the Malcolm X Jazz Festival in Oakland just to name a few. The band is also preparing to release a new CD in early 2008 which will feature local special guests that include: keyboardist Terry Disley (Acoustic Alchemy), drummer Billy Johnson (Joyce Cooling, Santana), percussionist Marquino Brasil (Craig Chaquico), bassist Nelson Braxton (Braxton Brothers), vocalist Derrick Hughes (Patti Labelle), and Levi Seacer (Prince, Sounds of Blackness).
